A Holiday Not To Remember

Barry could hear his parents bickering as he slowly climbed the stairwell of the boat, leaving the calm and refreshing ocean.

"How could you let him go in deep water in his condition?" argued his father Harry.

"Excuse me! What condition? Do you think being pregnant makes you an invalid?" repled his mother Sarah.

Barry sighed. This was not how he intended to spend his Exchange Island holiday.

It was all very typical of his parents to argue like that even in public. There was only a small difference that made the argument funnier that it was intended. His father was speaking from the body of a 10 years old girl with a childish face, freckles and a slight lisp due to braces, while his mother was currently in the body of a 10 years old lanky boy.

The ironic thing was that they actually were not allowed to swim in open waters, unlike Barry, who despite being a 28 years old very pregnant woman took the chance to be away from his bickering parents, if only for a little while.

Floating in the ocean was actually wonderful and was the closest he had been to being on holiday. When he was on land he felt bloated and heavy, unable to walk but only to wobble. He ended up thinking that being a woman was not so bad, but being pregnant sucked. Plus, he couldn't stand his parents, both in overprotective mode, without realizing that they were the ones needing protection.

As he re-entered the boat, Barry made a mental note to never go again on holiday with his parents. And possibly, to never allow a future pregnant wife near them.
